The Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) is a non-profit municipal organization that provides potable water, sewerage services and other environmental services to the Hartford, Ct. metropolitan area. We are accepting resumes for position of Manager of Maintenance/Solid Waste Systems.
Duties include supervising and managing the maintenance and repair of the District fleet, water and sewer processing plants, facilities, operations of sewer and water pumping stations, water storage facilities, inventory control and a radio control system. Position also supervises and manages the transfer and processing of solid waste to maximize resource recovery. Work involves resource recovery plant development and operations, and the land filling of ash and other non-recoverable solid waste, preparing and administering the department budget, directing and coordinating maintenance activities and providing technical assessment of equipment and facility problems and needs.
Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mechanical, or electrical, or closely related field; supplemented by minimum nine (9) years previous experience that includes engineering, mechanical and electrical. 3 years of supervisory and/or managerial experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Connecticut Professional Engineer license is desirable. Familiarity with SAP and/or other computerized maintenance systems is preferred. Construction experience is a plus, with the ability to deal with project and crises management. Must have a valid driver’s license.
Salary range is $89,841 to $125,778, plus an excellent benefits package including vacation, sick and holiday pay, health and dental insurance, and pension plan.
