| Description: | Waste Processing Facility Plant Operator
The Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) is a non-profit municipal organization that provides potable water, sewerage services and other environmental services to the Hartford, Ct. metropolitan area. We are accepting resumes for position of WPF Plant Operator.
This is very responsible plant operating work involving the operation of equipment and controls and the performance of general laboring. Work involves responsibility for safe operation of plant equipment and controls. Duties include operating rolling stock and stationary equipment and handling solid waste material. This position also has the responsibility for making routine plant operating decisions in accordance with established procedures. This work requires that the employee have good knowledge, skill and ability in the operation of rolling stock equipment and plant controls.
Qualification requires a high school diploma or the equivalent plus one year of experience in solid waste processing or manufacturing plant operation, or an equivalent combination of education and qualifying experience substituting on a year-for-year basis. Must have a valid Connecticut driver’s license and qualify during probation for a District license. Must be physically able to perform the work involved. The District reserves the right to determine physical ability.
Annual salary range $20.90 to $25.10 hourly. Benefits include vacation, sick and holiday pay, health and dental insurance, and pension plan.
